JOB FOR A COWBOY: 'Genesis' U.K. Chart Positions Revealed
May 31, 2007Glendale, Arizona extreme metal band JOB FOR A COWBOY's debut album, "Genesis" has registered the following U.K. chart positions:
Top 50 Indie Album Chart: #28
Top 40 Rock & Metal Album Chart: #26
Last week the CD entered the Billboard chart at No. 54 after shifting nearly 13,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. It's one of the highest-charting metal debuts to crack Billboard's Top 200 since SLIPKNOT's 1999 self-titled album. "Genesis" also landed at the #4 position on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart, at #5 on Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart and was the #3 best-selling album overall — regardless of genre — in the San Antonio, TX marketplace, where JOB FOR A COWBOY held their sold-out CD release party on Tuesday, May 15.
JOB FOR A COWBOY has met to a landslide of enthusiastic fan and critical acclaim in the time leading up to the release of "Genesis". The quintet (vocalist Jonny Davy, guitarists Ravi Bhadriraju and Bobby Thompson, bassist Brent Riggs and drummer Jon "The Charn" Rice) has been tagged as metal's "next big thing" by Guitar World, while "Genesis" is being hailed as "an album that quite literally obliterates everyone else currently residing within the death and grind [metal] scenes" and "one of the year's most essential metal purchases." by the U.K.'s Kerrang!, who presented "Genesis" with it's coveted five-K! perfect rating.
The first music video from "Genesis" — for the album's roll out track "Embedded" — made its world network premiere as part of MTV2's long-running "Headbanger's Ball" program. The eye-opening "Embedded" video was directed by Popcore and provides the perfect visual accompaniment to the band's advanced aural assault. In alignment with the quasi-conceptual theme(s) of "Genesis", the impelling "Embedded" clip details the events surrounding the "Verichip," a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) implant that some say is close to turning from eerie idea, to full-blown reality. On Friday, June 8, JOB FOR A COWBOY will join a hot list of artists that includes VELVET REVOLVER, WOLFMOTHER and KORN in launching the 2007 Download Festival, set to take place June 8, 9 and 10 at the spiritual home of rock music in England: Donington Park. JOB FOR A COWBOY will tour North America this summer as one of the featured acts of the 2007 Sounds of the Underground Tour, set to kick off on Friday, July 6 in Dallas, TX.
